Welcome

Bridie Nelson is an artist from Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa (New Zealand), currently based in the UK. She completed a BFA at Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland, in 2022, and has since exhibited and worked across Aotearoa, Australia and the UK in both gallery and public contexts.

Her practice spans drawing and printmaking, as well as sculpture, installation, and temporary public interventions, often using repurposed or everyday materials to disrupt familiar environments. Bridie is interested in play as a tool; to shift perspective of space, to question behavioural norms, and to activate collective memory. Her installations frequently invite physical interaction, positioning the viewer as an active participant whose movement, decisions, and perspective complete the work.

Through works such as hinged doors, improvised seating, or inserted sculptural forms, she examines thresholds; points of entry, transition, and access.
